I'm a Singaporean economist who became an opposition activist. I blog to provide an alternative to the porkies that the Pinkies tell. It just so happens that my alternative is the truth. That's why I've never been sued in any civil or criminal court no matter how hard hitting my criticism.
I'm quoted and interviewed and asked to speak across the world but largely censored in Singapore in an effort to silence my political opinions.
The left hate me because they think I split their vote and because I eschew their outmoded economic models. Models that don't work.
The Right and the Conservatives hate me because I'm a liberal.
I'm not sure what the middle think of me. I don't think there are more than a handful of people in the middle, here in Singapore.
I'm a Singaporean born and bred, dual heritage, my parents Singaporean established here before the State of Singapore was created. I'm not Eurasian.
I read economics at Cambridge and could be broadly described as from the Keynesian school but I believe in interventions. I was formerly a successful hedge fund manager. After economics and politics my greatest interests are history, film and Makan. I run but I run so I can eat like a Singaporean.

PM Lee: “The value of these homes will never go down”…oops, I lied.

Don’t Interfere in Our Domestic Politics But We’ll Feel Free to Intervene in Yours

A few days ago another illuminating example of how Singapore’s PAP Government uses its Fake News mouthpieces came to light. However this time, instead of its usual tactics of brainwashing […]

Don’t expect what just happened in Malaysia to be repeated in Singapore

The PAP Government has always taught Singaporeans to look down on Malaysia and compare it unfavourably with our own state of economic development. Never mind the fact that Singapore was […]

I was saying publicly as long ago as the 2011 GE that PAP’s Asset Enhancement Scheme was a scam whatever the Independent and others may claim

Yesterday the Independent Singapore (an ironic title if ever there was one since the Independent posts prominent photos of its owner, Leon Perera, the WP NCMP, on its masthead) carried […]

While Norway insists on transparency, our Familee-managed SWFs prefer the fishing in muddy waters

Yesterday the Financial Times reported that Norway’s Finance Ministry had forbidden its sovereign wealth fund (SWF) from investing in private equity. In the article the Norwegian Finance Minister said that “Private […]

CCS only took an interest in the Uber-Grab merger after I said that it should be stopped

On March 28 Uber announced it had sold its operations in South-East Asia to rival Grab in return for a 27% stake in Grab. This has been followed by an […]

Did Data Mining Firm Cambridge Analytica swing the election for Najib? (and is your personal data safe with Facebook?)

Since I wrote this it has been announced that Facebook faces an FTC (Federal Trade Commission) probe into whether it violated the terms of a 2011 privacy settlement that was […]

Discounts and Jobs For Relatives Are OK For PM Lee and His Family But Not For The GM of His Town Council

On Wednesday the GM of Ang Mo Kio Town Council,  Victor Wong Chee Meng, was charged with 55 counts of corruption involving $107,000 according to state media.  He “is accused […]
