I'm a Singaporean economist who became an opposition activist. I blog to provide an alternative to the porkies that the Pinkies tell. It just so happens that my alternative is the truth. That's why I've never been sued in any civil or criminal court no matter how hard hitting my criticism.
I'm quoted and interviewed and asked to speak across the world but largely censored in Singapore in an effort to silence my political opinions.
The left hate me because they think I split their vote and because I eschew their outmoded economic models. Models that don't work.
The Right and the Conservatives hate me because I'm a liberal.
I'm not sure what the middle think of me. I don't think there are more than a handful of people in the middle, here in Singapore.
I'm a Singaporean born and bred, dual heritage, my parents Singaporean established here before the State of Singapore was created. I'm not Eurasian.
I read economics at Cambridge and could be broadly described as from the Keynesian school but I believe in interventions. I was formerly a successful hedge fund manager. After economics and politics my greatest interests are history, film and Makan. I run but I run so I can eat like a Singaporean.

Dear Lawrence Wong, Don’t Try to Scare Singaporeans by Talking Cock About Welfareism. Stop Lying and Shed Some Light on the Black Hole of the Government’s Finances and on Who Benefits From This Lack of Transparency

Lawrence Wong (LW) was doing what he does best: spreading disinformation and falsehoods in Parliament on Monday. He claimed that Singapore under the PAP would never succumb to populism and […]

Her Master’s Voice Halimah and Silver-Tongued Shanmugam Don’t Seem Able To Get Their Stories Straight

In her opening address today to Parliament setting out the Government’s priorities for the remainder of the current term President Halimah said: “Meritocracy has provided opportunities, but as the country prospers, […]

As UK Minimum Wage Rises to $17 Per Hour, PAP Plutocrats Expect Singaporeans To Be Loving It on $7 to $10 Per Hour

On 1 April the UK Minimum Wage was raised to £10.42 per hour. At current exchange rates of around £1=$1.65 that works out to over $17 an hour. There is […]

By Hiding All Financial Information about Its Ruling Family Singapore Gets an Undeserved Reputation for Incorruptibility

I just saw a news report on the BBC that the U.K. PM, Rishi Sunak, is facing questions over shares his wife holds in a childcare agency that could benefit […]

It’s Not Just About Getting Rid of M.Ravi and Removing Opposition to Judicial Killings of Drug Mules. Behind This Is CJ Menon Attempts To Maintain the Fiction of an Independent AG and Judiciary and that JBJ’s Conviction Was Lawful

It goes without saying that I am absolutely disgusted by the Court of Three Judges’ (led by Chief Justice Menon) decision to suspend M. Ravi for 5 years when the […]

If Everything Is Rosy, as MOM Tells Singaporeans. Then Why Are So Few Citizens Working?

On 15 March Ministry of Manpower issued a statement on labour market developments in 2022 that was dutifully reported on by LHL’s dedicated media monopoly aimed at ensuring his re-election […]

Why Singaporeans Need To Be Less “Genteel and Civilised”

Recently I tweeted about how Georgians in large numbers had protested against their pro-Russian government’s attempt to introduce a bill requiring NGOs and media receiving more than 20% foreign funding […]

When Is Winning A Case Actually Losing? When You’re Going Up Against the PAP Government

For those who believed that my brother’s recent judgment awarding damages to Allan Mah Kiat Seng was a blow at last against the long standing abuse of overweening police powers […]

Lawrence Wong Deliberately Misleads Singaporeans But Provides Confirmation That I Am Correct About Size of Reserves

In his Budget closing speech on Friday, reported in government propoaganda tool CNA, Lawrence Wong made a number of disingenuous assertions about tax. He said Singaporeans pay much less in […]

If Indranee Says Singapore Needs More New Citizens Because Our Population Is Declining Then Who Precisely Are We Safeguarding the Reserves For?

In Parliament on Friday Indranee Rajah reiterated like a broken record the constant PAP refrain that we need more immigrants and new citizens, using the hook that TFR has now […]
